A warm sunny, light wind day greeted sailors on the second day of the Guangzhou Nansha International Sailing Regatta 2017, setting the stage for another day of tricky racing conditions with a dramatic ending in the second race of the day, sure to remembered for years to come.

PRO Tony Lu warned that the wind might further soften at the end of the day. He further added, “Light wind sailors are going to have their day today.”

The fleet finished their three scheduled races, which was what was most important to team leaders and sailors alike going into the final day of racing tommorow. Each team earned their places by showing exceptional seamanship in light winds and strong tidal currents. Observers described the racing as exhilarating to watch. Starts were tight and most races saw the top four teams finishing within seconds of each other.

Singapore, had a good racing day today and led in all three races from the start and finished first in two of the three races. The all girls team from Russia sailed well, but couldn't capitalise on their form as the temprature remained too hot for their comfort today.

When results were released, it was clear that todays sailing conditions led to a shakeup at the top of the fleet, with team Singapore, leading the points table, but, closely followed by Russia and Chinese Taipei.
