More than 250 plus boats turned up for the 26nm 2016 Around the Island Race. Race Officer Inge Strompf-Jepsen set two start lines off of Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club's Kellett Island Clubhouse with the line closest to Kellett Island used for starting the day boats and the outside line for the cruiser, racer and beach cat divisions.

Inaugurated in 2007, the China Cup International Regatta is the first big boat sailing regatta organised by the Chinese Yachting Association. With the approval of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Regatta is held annually and attracts over 100 boats. More than 1000 sailors from 33 nationalities compete and as such the event has slowly but firmly gained wide attention of the sailing community and international media.
In its 32nd year, the Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race this year was hosted by Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Club. A fleet of 16 yachts comprising of more than 100 crew from 9 Nations, set sail from Northern Australia for Indonesia on 13th August 2016. After a very slow start and a painful exit from the harbour the wind gods finally heard the calls. The fleet sailed in an average of 20-30 knots of breeze throughout the 600NM race. Perseverance and patience were the skills in most demand on Day 1 of the 2016 Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek as Principal Race Officer Simon James and his on-water team tracked around Chalong Bay and surrounds in search of wind. It was testing and trying for the record 47 boat fleet and 500+ sailors. As 14:00 approached, the PRO set a course and at 13:54 got the Firefly 850 Sport class off first.
Thailand's leading island destination, Phuket, is soon to receive a boost in low season arrivals as the 13th Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek readies to welcome more than 400 sailors and friends from 30 countries between 20th and 24th July, to compete in four days of exciting sailing off Phuket's southeast coast.
