Inaugurated in 2007, the China Cup International Regatta is the first big boat sailing regatta organised by the Chinese Yachting Association. With the approval of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Regatta is held annually and attracts over 100 boats. More than 1000 sailors from 33 nationalities compete and as such the event has slowly but firmly gained wide attention of the sailing community and international media.
Held under the auspices of Asian Sailing Federation, the Chinese Yachting Association and the Shenzhen Administration of Culture, Sport and Tourism, the China Cup International Regatta will celebrate its 10th anniversary from Oct 27 to 30 October 2016.
The 4-day event will comprise of a Hong Kong to Shenzhen passage race, inshore races and round the island races in Shenzhen, with around 1000 sailors from more than 35 different countries and regions to compete. Over 100 yachts are expected to participate in 10 different classes of competition including Beneteau First 40.7, Bavaria Cruiser 37, FAREAST 28R, J/80, HKPN A&B, IRC A&B&C class.
Prize-giving and social functions will be organised every evening, the highlights of the evening functions being traditional cultural performances by Chinese artists and of course the daily prize giving ceremonies.
The Asian Sailing Federation, the Chinese Yachting Association and the Shenzhen Administration of Culture, Sport and Tourism look forward to welcoming sailors to Shenzhen, China and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event.
