Oman Sail is a government-sponsored initiative with one core objective: to further the development of Oman and the Omanis through the sport of sailing. As an organisation committed to the development and growth of youth sailing, Oman Sail has accomplished a wide array of achievements since its foundation in 2008. Not only has it had homegrown sailors achieve remarkable success on the competitive international sailing circuit, but also has accrued considerable experience in hosting international regattas across a spectrum of arenas and classes in the Sultanate of Oman.

Oman Sail is committed in its bid to deliver an outstanding 2019 Optimist Asian and Oceanian Championship. Winter months in the Sultanate of Oman offer blue skies, warm weather and a windspeed of around 14 knots. Offered alongside these perfect competitive sailing conditions are the world-class sailing facilities at Al Mussanah Sports City, Oman’s purpose-built Olympic standard sailing event venue that was completed in 2010. Located approximately 100km north of Muscat International Airport, the site has the infrastructure and facilities required to expand the country’s existing tourism industry. Furthermore, it has the capability to host environmentally friendly world-class events.

Each year, Oman’s stark beauty and vastly contrasting landscapes have enchanted growing numbers of tourists. With its magnificent desert, secret oases and breath-taking mountain ranges, the country also features a stunning 3165 km coastline. Alongside this natural wealth is the Sultanate’s rich culture, which blends with modern infrastructure and historical features that span over 7,000 years.
