The sailors arrived at the Nansha Marina today morning to be greeted with cooler and steady 10 to 12 Kts of breeze. At the end, today's racing was proclaimed the “best of the regatta” by many. Going into the final two races, it was not clear as to which teams would have the bragging rights at the Gala Dinner and prize-giving evening.

Team India continued where they left off yesterday adding two wins to their race tally, beating the Chinese Taipei team by a single point margin to fnish third. Team Singapore ensured that they remained ahead of Team Russia and were crowned winners of the inaugural Guangzhou Nansha Sailing Regatta 2017.

"The Guangzhou Nansha International Sailing Regatta is a fantastic event, because you get a different boat every day and set it up” commented Team Russia. “ This takes a lot of effort by the organisers and we really appreciate everyone that has been involved. We would recommend this regatta to everyone. We would also like to thank the other teams. It was a great battle, and they threw everything at it, which produced really good and enjoyable racing.” From here we move on to the Pan Pacific Universities Sailing Regatta and hope to better our position there.

“Fantastic close racing at a fabulous regatta,” commented Albert Khong,General Manager of the Nansha Marina. “We hope that all of the competitors will be back next year. Special thanks to the support given by Asian Sailing Federation and the Race Officials. I would also thank the owners of the Fareast 26 that have put their boats into the regatta, and all others who provided fantastic support, on and off the water. Next year we will provide a much more exciting format, and we hope to see many more teams from Asia participating at the event.”

A Prize Giving Ceremony was held in Grand Hall of the Nansha Marina. Team Singapore was presented with the Maritime Silk Route Cup and the cash prize of RMB 60,000, whilst Team Russia and India received RMB 40,000 and RMB 20,000 respectively.
