ASAF ATO CLINICS AND FIRST EVER ASAF CENTRAL ASIA SAILING CHAMPIONSHIPS – KYRGYZSTAN

The action before the commencement of the first ever ASAF Central Asian Sailing Championship being held in Cholpon Ata Kyrgyzstan, commenced with the Jury and Race Management Clinics.

The Clinics organized by the Asian Sailing Federation (ASAF) and the Sailing Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic was held over 13th and 14th May’26 , saw very good participation and provided a great start to a week that promises a lot of action.

The Jury Clinic was conducted by Aylin and Murat Suntay, both International Judges and was attended by 70 enthusiastic participants from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The key areas that the Clinic focussed on, was improving the quality of the organization of sailing competitions, understanding competition rules and their interpretation, which directly impacts and enhances the quality of the events.

The Race Management Clinic was held by International Race Officers Mr Ilker Bayindir and Ms. Anna Deyanova and saw 17 participants in attendance and covered the aspects that are important to Race Management.

President ASAF Dr. Malav Shroff said that this is indeed a very historic moment, as such activities were taking place in this Central Asian region for the first time ever and is a huge boost to all stakeholders involved in the sport, be it the Sailors, Coaches, Officials etc.

He also hoped that the Championships will continue to be an annual event and become a permanent fixture on the ASAF Calendar.

The Clinics he further added, was a great opportunity for participants to gain and enhance their knowledge imparted by experienced international instructors.

All the action now turns to the first ever ASAF Central Asian Sailing Championship which is being held from the 16th to 21st May in Cholpon Ata Kyrgyzstan. For the first time in the history of Kyrgyzstan, the Central Asian Sailing Championship will be held on the Issyk-Kul coast.

The championship is organized by the Sailing Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic with the support of the Asian Sailing Federation (ASAF) and the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The first Central Asian Sailing Championship will be a key Milestone for the development of the sailing culture in the region.

This event will see participants from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, who have already arrived and are bracing themselves to compete and vie for podium finishes in the following classes viz:- Optimist, ILCA-4, ILCA-6, ILCA-7 and Fareast-23

The coming days promise to be action packed, with a and a lot of great competition taking place on the water. So, a lot to look forward to!
